Owner . Photographer . Designer
I am originally from Springfield, Illinois, where I took an interest in art and photography at a young age. I graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 2006 with a Bachelors Degree in Cinema & Photography, minoring in Fashion Merchandising and Design. I focused my studies to follow the path of digital photography in both natural and studio lighting.
After graduation, I moved to San Diego. I dabbled in many areas of interest, including art education. I obtained my CBEST certification in 2009. I taught art, among many other classes, at a private high school in Solana Beach. I later became involved in an art program specifically designed for K-4th grade, teaching at four Del Mar area elementary schools.
Though I loved teaching, I wanted to expand my skills to other areas. I left teaching and dove into marketing and graphic design. I worked with a large newly opened Carlsbad Salon & Spa, as their in-house marketing and designer. Here I exercised my skills in branding and marketing a new company.
In 2013, I decided to fully invest in my own business: Crushdart. I became freelance, and it was the best decision I had made. I take on as much or as little work as suits my schedule, so I am always able to give each of my projects my full attention, time, effort and heart. I fill my schedule with weddings, engagements, families and kids. I take on commercial projects occasionally, preferably working with and supporting fellow local small-businesses.
I currently live and work from home in Carlsbad, California. My mostly calm and occasionally chaotic home is filled with love, lots of house plants, my incredibly supportive soulmate, a rambunctious toddler boy and a lazy rescue-pug dog.
